Studio

My sewing table, with sewing machine, threads, tools, books, etc. to the left is a dummy with a partially draped dress on it, and behind is a pinboard with dress designs.

1920s Straw and Lace Cloche Hat

A 1920s style cloche hat, hand blocked in two colours of straw - the crown natural colour, the brim black. The crown is covered with black floral lace, and poking out from under the brim you can just see the cream lace brim lining.
The hat is finished with a band of black silk velvet, where the brim and crown meet, and a bunch of handmade black, cream and grey silk roses, with sparkling crystal centres.

Elephant and Castle Livery Badge

A machine embroidered elephant, with a red castle, full of blue and red soldiers strapped to his back. The badge is on a cork background.

Studio

Work in progress at my studio.
The picture shows a pattern draped in paper on a female dummy. On the bench next to it is a book open, lying on a length of yellow and red brocade fabric. In the background is a blue / pink 18th century saque back gown on another dummy, and shelved hatblocks.

Ivory Silk Later Victorian Wedding Dress

A late Victorian bustled wedding dress, photographed from the side, and made in a crisp ivory silk.
Along the hem of the skirt is a row of ruched decoration, the same decoration present at the hem, neck and cuffs of the bodice. The peplum bodice is also trimmed with fringing at the hem.
From a design documented by Janet Arnold.

Napoleonic Hussar's Style Braided Waistcoat

A dark blue waistcoat, with frogged silver braiding to the front, in a wavy design. There is also braid on the lower edge, at the false pocket, and on the high standing collar.
This is a made up design, rather than a truly historical one.

Hat Blocks

Some of my vintage and antique hat blocks, stacked on an antique wooden shelf.
Most of the picture is in black and white, but sitting at an angle in the middle of the picture is a green perching hat in wool felt, still pinned on the block.
