An A.T.S. hat that was made to
go with the above uniform.

This is the hat that was worn
with the normal (European)
A.T.S. uniform, and although
there was a KD (desert) hat to
go with the KD uniform, in
many of the pictures sent to me
by the museum, the women
were wearing these woollen hats.
One of the desert versions of the A.T.S. (Auxiliary Territorial Service) uniform.

These were known as the A.T.S.(K.D.) uniforms, because they were made in khaki coloured
cotton drill fabric.

The basic uniform consists of a shirt style battledress blouse, with a belt (buckled behind the
back in the pictures, and an A-line skirt.

This was made for the
National Army Museum in London.

The uniform is made entirely from photographs, but fortunately the museum was able to provide
me with extensive photographs of the original uniforms in use during the war, from their archive,
so I was able to get a feel for how the uniforms were actually worn.  For example, nearly all the
belts were worn fastened behind, as shown.

The uniform is made in reproduction military cotton drill fabric by Abimelech Hainsworth and
Sons.
